The beginning of New Chapters Fostercare

In 2014 a small group of child focused foster carers in Shropshire, who were dissatisfied with the agency they were with decided to look into setting up their own fostering agency to improve the care and support given to them and the children in their care. Their first step was to approach a manager who they knew had the qualities to make this happen. Two further professionals were vital to build this team and once they were on board the work to create the agency began.

A decision was made early on that the fostering agency we all wanted, was one that had a family feel and one that would become genuinely therapeutic in the approach that was used to help vulnerable children recover from the trauma they had experienced. The five foster carer households and three Social Care professionals became joint investor/owner/shareholders and eventually created an agency that became registered with Ofsted in June 2015, acquiring a rating of “Good”. From the very beginning, we had aspirations that we knew would bring significant challenges, especially in a national climate of overstretched resources. To that end one of our greatest aspirations was to create a “one stop shop” where all the services needed for a child could be provided in-house. The team continues to grow with the addition of some amazing staff and carers whose dedication makes New Chapters Fostercare able to pursue its ambitions and dreams. We have always, and will continue to, work tirelessly to achieve our aspirations.
